The term public utilities refers to a special type of business that is engaged in supplying some essential products or services within a definite market area on a monopolistic basis (in most cases). To illustrate the various facts of the term public utility, it will not be out of the place if we take here some of the definitions given by distinguished people (E.G. Hawtrey, and Graham Roper) .
